I am currently making a cushion for my mum as a Mothers Day gift. I am using Oriental Fabrics from Makower UK and they have been sent to me by Sewing-Online HQ (I manage their social media on a freelance basis…I am a lucky lady and love my job!)
I was sent half a metre of each of these fabrics:-
I chose to make the cushion cover using English Paper Piecing. My lovely Auntie showed me how to do this. I am also very close to completing my first ever quilt made entirely from Owl fabric hexagons. I’ll post a photo once that is completed.
I will update this blog post with photos of my Mother’s day Cushion as I go along.
Hiya everyone. This evening I made my daughter a hair scrunchie following the tutorial over on the Ikatbag Blog.
The tutorial was easy to follow and I am very impressed with my daughter’s new scrunchie.
I used Disney Frozen fabric which is made by Springs Creative. To say she is delighted with her new hairband is an understatement! It will look great with her Elsa dress I am going to make her one day…when I find time. I have the fabrics ready but I just need to sit down and sew it.
I took photos along the way of making this hair band so you could see how I made it but if you would like to make one I recommend following the hair scrunchie sewing tutorial on the Ikatbag blog.
The measurements in the Ikatbag tutorial are in inches but I roughly converted them into cm (using the lovely google!) as I could only find my tape measure that has cm marked on it.
The fabric I used was 41 cm x 10cm and the narrow elastic was 18cm long and approx 1cm wide (3/8 inch elastic).
